As a mostly self-taught artist I create art instinctively. My inspiration comes from nature, the colors of the changing seasons and life in the Mid-west. Working intuitively in many mediums, I enjoy the freedom to express myself in whichever one suits the concept.
Clay allows me to interpret nature in 3-D. I create hand built clay vessels textured and embellished with sculpted elements such as twigs, leaves, berries and buds. These are mid-range fired with layered glazes to recreate nature’s colors.
I love to paint detailed watercolors, playing with the medium’s versatility of deep darks and light washes.
Acrylic and oil painting allows me the freedom to play with color in a large format. From realistic but interpretive landscapes to abstract studies in color and texture, both mediums offer endless possibilities.
My work is in private collections throughout the United States and Europe and in galleries in Illinois and Wisconsin.
